Scope of Work
Our area of interest is a small community located 40km on the
Jerez highway from Zacatecas. It is on the banks of a river that
periodically floods due to rain in the nearby mountains. Flood waters
can be as deep as 2.5 meters. In order to model the existing flow
regimes we propose a WMS model for the watershed combined with an HEC-RAS
model for the river channel. With a working calibrated model we can
then incorporate different flood mitigation measures into the model and
choose the best solution. Ultimately we will propose our findings in
hopes that the community can implement a solution to the current flooding
problems.
